RIVERS APC IN SOLIDARITY MARCH FOR PRESIDENT BUHARI

The rains couldn't hold them back; threats of disruption couldn't deter the APC faithfuls that thronged in their thousands to march in support of their beloved President Muhammadu Buhari.

The second medical trip of the President on May 7, 2017 had become contentious as some mischievous politicians who are averse to the change mantra, resorted to blackmail. Some even said the President was on life support at a West-End, London Hospital.

When is the President coming back? Even though he had transmitted a letter to the National Assembly in compliance with the provisions of the country’s Constitution, the President’s detractors made a political meal of his absence. The tension was palpable.

Nigerians fasted and prayed fervently for the speedy recovery of Mr. President and his return to the country to continue his good works. Gainsayers swore he would never return alive but alas on August 19, 2019, President Buhari jetted into Nigeria to the delight of the majority of his countrymen and women. Jubilation spread across the land.

Today, Wednesday, August 30, 2017, members of the Rivers State chapter of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in partnership with the Coalition of Civil Societies and Community Based Organizations trouped out in their numbers to celebrate the President’s return. They marched in solidarity with the great Nigerian leader. The city of Port Harcourt was agog as APC members trooped into the capital city from all the Local Government Areas to join in the celebration of our President's return. Even the rain gave up when it became obvious that the people were determined to defy the elements.

Marching from Polo Club in new GRA, the multitude covered extensive distance, trekking the long stretch of the Port Harcourt - Aba expressway to the APC State Secretariat in Old GRA. It was a moment of great jubilation.

Among the party leaders who marched, not minding the rain, to show support and express gratitude for the recovery of the President and his safe return to Nigeria was the grassroots politician, Chief Barr. Dumo Lulu-Briggs.

Speaking to reporters, Lulu-Briggs thanked Nigerians for their demonstration of faith, loyalty and love for Mr. President. He encouraged his compatriots to continue to support the government, saying that the achievements of any government are dependent on the support it gets from the people. He prayed for God to sustain the good health of the President.

The State Chairman of APC, Chief David Ibiamu Ikanya told newsmen that Nigerians were right to have elected President Muhammadu Buhari. He assured the President and the Minister of transportation, Rt. Hon. Chibuike Rotimi Amaechi of the unalloyed support of members of the Rivers State chapter of the party.
