Gov. Wike plot to deduce Mr. Akin Fakorode
GOV. WIKE’S BRAIN CHILD, #END SARS; A TALE OF FANCIFUL FANTACY
It is no longer news that the Rivers state government under Gov. Wike is poised to truncate the frantic and professional efforts of the Special Anti-Robbery Squad (SARS) to rid the state of crime and criminality and restore peace and orderliness.
Recall that Gov. Wike has severally leveled fictitious criminal allegations against SARS operatives which he has not been able to substantiate upon a mere balance of probability. His unguarded utterances and phantom allegations of falsehood against Mr. Akin Fakorode led Special Anti-Robbery Squad in Rivers State is unfortunate and unexpected of a holder of the highly placed office of the governor.
In his determined campaign of calumny and politics of destabilization, Gov. Wike devised and launched a frivolous media scheme against SARS tagged: “#END SARS” in a bid to taint the image of this professional security outfit in the public domain.
Gov. Wike’s intention for the several ridiculous, contemptuous and untutored remarks and campaigns against the Special Anti-Robbery Squad (SARS) cannot be easily fathomed, it however has some political undertone; it could be as a result of the refusal of the SARS commander, Mr. Akin Fakarode to ‘do his biddings’ because the governor has made several attempts to buy him over for the purpose of using him against perceived political adversaries in the state and the 2019 elections which is fast approaching.
We wish to state categorically here for the purpose of clarity that ‘Mr. Akin Fakarode is a professional Police officer who has refused to be stuck like a piece of furniture and receive the governor’s orders and prohibitions at the detriment of the good people of Rivers state.
While we commend officers of the Special Anti-Robbery Squad for being exceptionally professional in the discharge of their duties in Rivers state, we call on Gov. Wike to be weary of being inveigled into a situation in which he finds himself becoming an ardent agent of confusion in the pursuit of his selfish private vendetta and concentrate on governance which he has not been able to offer Rivers people since he assumed office in 2015.
In furtherance therefore, we call on the Inspector General of Police and the general public to discountenance the hypocritical cry of Gov. Wike for the END OF SARS owing to the fact that he has not been able to pinpoint any act of wrongdoing perpetrated by officers and men of SARS.
To further buttress the innocence of SARS, just yesterday, two men who have been operating as SARS officers around Igwuruta axis of Rivers State were apprehended.
The duo who have been in the business of molesting and extorting from unsuspected members of the public in the guise of SARS officers are among several criminal elements operating in and around Rivers state pretending to be officers and men of the Special Anti-Robbery Squad and painting the image of the genuine SARS officers black in minds of men and women of goodwill.
This apprehension has vindicated SARS over the avalanche of allegations of Gov. Wike and his satanic cohorts.
We therefore call on well meaning Rivers people who understands the importance of security in society to continue to support the Special Anti-Robbery Squad to keep up the good work.
