GRATITUDE TO GOD THROUGH SERVICE TO HUMANITY, IS THE CULTURE OF THE LULU-BRIGGS FAMILY
The above title is clearly a profound statement that epitomizes the munificent and patriotic nature of the Lulu-Briggs family.
Guided by the thought that the ultimate satisfaction of having both material and socioeconomic advantage in the society, is derived from the attributes of unconditional charity, the Lulu-Briggs, having had the divine favor of conquering abjection in the dark years, and subsequently reaping bountifully from their investments of time, sweat and currencies, the family has in consistent observance, maintained the culture of sharing with the people.
The year 2017, recorded a plentiful testimonies of kind gestures from Chief Dumo Lulu-Briggs by the people. It is noteworthy the fact that over time, DLB has judiciously applied the biblical injunction which reads thus: "For there will never cease to be poor in the land. Therefore I command you, ‘You shall open wide your hand to your brother, to the needy and to the poor, in your land.’ (Deut. 15:11).
We do not find it kingly and humane to delve into the specifics of such matters of charity, but for the main purpose of selling and encouraging a worthy culture of love and altruism to others, it is reasonable to faintly inform you that innumerable Nigerians in the distinct categories of indigent widows, homeless people, senior citizens, orphans, unemployed men, the handicapped etc, have in their numbers testified of God's favor through His human instruments: High Chief O. B. Lulu-Briggs and his great son Chief Dumo Lulu-Briggs.
Monday, 1st of January, 2018, was supposed to be all about a Special New Year Thanksgiving Service for the Akulga chapter of the APC. But it progressed into a special day of love as High Chief O. B. Lulu-Briggs, in one section of the town, while attending a different occasion, reached out to the elderly. And in another section, Chief Dumo Lulu-Briggs graciously succumbed to the urge of reaching out to the members of the community.
In cause of distributing items, Chief DLB exhausted his package but insisted on sustaining the joyous tempo through an extensive display of affection. He reached for more items that are useful to the people by buying off all available commodities from traders in the area and distributed them accordingly. The Akulga traders were visibly elated; many lacked words to describe the joy they felt for having their goods totally sold and distributed to relatives and friends. A woman simply described the gesture as a good omen that signals a good beginning for the best year ahead. She called the day a good market day for the traders.
The auspicious occasion which had in attendance, party faithfuls community Chiefs and youths, APC party Chieftains, friends, colleagues and other political associates, began with a Church session at St. Paul's Nyemoni Cathedral, Abonnema. High point of the day included a road procession into the city of Abonnema; the headquarter of Akuku-Toru Local Government Area of Rivers State and it's attendant road show of love.
It was truly a festival of love that created an atmosphere of joy. What better ways of ushering the people of Akulga into the new year? Glaringly, Dumo Lulu-Briggs is poised to reviving the people's hope for a better society through the exemplification of communal love and oneness.
