THE LIFE OF A PHILANTHROPIST


In the Bible, in the book of Mathew chapter 26 verse 11, it is written thus: "but ye have the poor always with you, but me ye have not always".

Relating that short scripture to the good and philanthropic nature of Chief DUMO LULU-BRIGGS, I get the assurance that indeed someone understood the instruction of The Christ asking us to love and help the poor if we mean to follow Him.

It gets clearer to me everyday that DLB's major commitment in life is to eradicate poverty from the society and bring smiles to the faces of the citizens. I see that he has identified the need for every rivers born citizen to be self reliant. My claims are verifiable especially when you look at his charity works and the skills acquisition programmes he has consistently initiated and executed through his prominent NGO, DYF23 and through other channels.

Chief DUMO LULU-BRIGGS is obviously devoted to the task of achieving a great Rivers state of success and happiness. Little wonder why, even without government funding, he makes it a responsibility to cater for the needy. There's so much I see in DLB, he is committed to the struggle for a better and self sustaining Rivers State full of opportunities for unsettled citizens to discover themselves. That's why without been a close relative or a friend, I choose to identify with him irrespective of personal gains. 

I admonish every Rivers born to do same...

The holy grail of democracy is the widespread participation of people in the business of power, legitimised by the representation of elected leaders. Participation is so meaningful that the noun derivative of democracy, democratisation, means "the action of making something accessible to everyone". So, on face value, the democratisation of "presidential aspiration" seems to be a good thing, and one may argue that this might throw up a pool of aspirants for the primaries for the people to choose, but the reality may be more sinister and a bad omen for our democracy.
